What Size Kettlebell Should you start with?

When beginning your kettlebell training for the first time you must ask yourself 'What weight Kettlebells Should I begin With?'

Firstly the size of ketlebell you choose should be dependant on your current levels of fitness and strength and of course whether you are a man or woman!

As a recommended starting point the majority of women can start with an 6-8 kg kettlebell, whilst those already taking part in regular strength and fitness training could go a bit heavier with a 10-12kg kettlebell if available.

For men wishing to start training with kettlebells my recomendation would be to begin with a 16 kg kettlebell, or a 24 kg kettlebell if participating in weekly strength and conditioning workouts.

Please note this is not law only an opinion and you may find you can go heavier or lighter than this. Due to the nature of kettlebell training it is advisable to start lighter until you find your ground.

When purchasing a kettlebell for the first time, try and decide what weight would be suitable. Then secondly when you've obtained the kettlebell, I would recommend the purchase of another kettlebell of the same weight as this unfold a whole new dimension to your kettlebell training.
